      Description

      Why?

      • Developers using the Jenkins controllers of the Jenkins infra always want to benefit from the latest tools, including the base operating systems
      • Maintainers of the Jenkins controllers of the Jenkins infra want the latest security patches applied as soon ass posible, and to limit the technical debt

      What

As underlined by Tim Jacomb in https://github.com/jenkins-infra/packer-images/pull/104#pullrequestreview-767854964 , we might want to migrate the agent Windows templates from Windows Server 2019 agents to Server 2022

      Requirement before startying

We should study https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/windows-server-release-info to see if we can upgrade our Windows 2019 agents to 2022

      • Is there any Windows Server 2022 with Container support part of the LTSC program?
      • Is there an AMI on AWS EC2 for Windows Server 2022 with Containers support?
*Is there an Azure VM image on AWS EC2 for Windows Server 2022 with Containers support + generation 2 + smalldisk?

      How

      Definition of Done

      • The 2 Pull Requests (at least) have been merged
      • A new release of the packer images had been done with this change
      • An automatic PR had been opened by the bot, on https://github.com/jenkins-infra/jenkins-infra/, to update the agent template references for both AWS EC2 and Azure
      • ci.jenkins.io is able to spawn Windows 2022 agents
