"fetch_updates" cli command to let jenkins contact update server and fetch update infos immediately

      This would significantly ease creation of jenkins vm appliances and automatically set up servers.

          what you basically are looking for is a CLI command to tell Jenkins to update its plugin infos (fetch the latest update-center.json) - right?

          Exactly. I need it for an automated pristine installation to know what fex. the "git" plugin is, so I do not need to specify an url or download a file.
