When running a matrix build, there is no visible output from the builds that are started on the slave nodes; this makes it very difficult to find out what went wrong in case of a build failure. Pehaps there are options to make this visible, but I have not found these.
Example:
07:55:04 At revision 19448
07:55:04 no change for https://svn.astron.nl/LOFAR/branches/LOFAR-Release-0.8/MAC since the previous build
07:55:04 no change for https://svn.astron.nl/LOFAR/branches/LOFAR-Release-0.8/CMake since the previous build
07:55:04 Triggering KIS001,LCU_MAC
08:02:38 Triggering SAS099,CCU_MAC
08:04:08 SAS099,CCU_MAC completed with result FAILURE
08:04:08 Triggering SAS099,CN_MAC
08:05:12 SAS099,CN_MAC completed with result FAILURE
08:05:12 Triggering KIS001,MCU_MAC
08:12:23 KIS001,MCU_MAC completed with result SUCCESS
08:12:23 Triggering SAS099,MCU_MAC
08:13:22 SAS099,MCU_MAC completed with result FAILURE
How to find out what went wrong...????
You have to navigate to the node where the test was run. There you can select the output to see.
I agree with you it is misleading and impractical.
A simple change would be to add the links to the "sub-jobs" output from the matrix job output.
