It would be very useful to show the compiler/build warnings in a column on the dashboard. The warnings can obtained from the Warnings plugin. Please also consider matrix jobs, where a total of all warnings of the child jobs should be shown.

We are currently using the Warnings plugin but it is not easy to see if a job has any warnings. For matrix jobs in particular, you'd need to go into the child jobs to check them for warnings.

I'd like to keep the extra-columns plugin free of dependencies on other plugins.

It also seems to be already implemented in the Warnings plug-in.
