"Update a Field" does not work with environment variables

I attempted to update a wiki-markup enabled field in Jira with:

Last Jenkins Build - [$JOB_NAME $BUILD_DISPLAY_NAME|$BUILD_URL]

But, it placed its value plain text, rather than turning the variables into their actual values... It seems to work just fine for comments, just not "Update a Field"
