Setup wizard close button (see screenshot) should be guarded by 'Are you sure?' question. I misclicked it and there is no way of going back to the wizard.

If you can't get back to the setup wizard then why would we allow people to close it. If you close it does the install get into an unstable state. What does happen?

Okay, tested it. It installs 0 plugins and it skips the username and password creation. I guess that isn't terrible but probably not what most people want when they install Jenkins. kzantow Maybe we could combine this problem with the wizard for people upgrading? Have an option to re-run setup wizard?

Otherwise, I agree, we should probably have a warning screen if people close the setup wizard. danielbeck

hrmpw right, this was a fuzzy requirement added on during review. Happy to modify / remove.

kzantow How about adding a 'Skip' link to the bottom of plugin selection (with the two big buttons) that takes you to user creation?

I'm running into the same issue. I accidently skipped the wizard when upgrading, and now it's impossible (as far as i know) to re run it.
I need to re run the upgrade wizard to install the recommended plugins. I have the Jenkins 2.11 now, but not most of the new features that come with Jenkins 2.
          can anyone help?

Same for me. Is there any possibility to re-run or manually start the upgrade wizard?

The update wizard actually allows you to go back from the last screen. So that already cancels only with two separate actions.

Besides, all the plugins it recommends are available on the plugin manager: Pipeline, Pipeline: Stage View, and GitHub Organization Folder.

danielbeck is there any way to get this fix backported to the 2.7 line, as it's a valid bug with no workaround?

kzantow This missed the backporting window for critical fixes by roughly two hours. From now on (post-RC), only blockers are considered. Is this really a blocker?

danielbeck I think not critical for 2.7.x, important to get into the next LTS, if possible.

There is now a method to force the setup wizard to [re]run by placing an empty jenkins.install.InstallUtil.lastExecVersion in JENKINS_HOME.

danielbeck need to document it on the wiki, it's a pretty rare case. It was implemented for a different purpose but it solves this issue of having no way to re-run the wizard.

danielbeck I'm not sure the best place for this documentation, but happy to write it up, could you direct me to an appropriate Wiki page?
