Detect SVN Branches/Tags in non-standard locations

As noted here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/35833635/jenkins-with-svn-branches-in-non-standard-locations, it is sometimes the case that branches are not located in a standard subversion repository layout. For example, our organisation uses `branches/Users/<user>/<branch>`.

Is it at all possible to modify this subversion plugin so that it can detect branches at non-standard locations? If not, any other suggestions that would allow users to select their branches would be greatly appreciated.
