Jobs waiting forever when http server not responding on custom tools request

      Custom Tools Plugin 0.4.4

      We recently had an issue with our http server we utilize to serve the custom tools configured in Jenkins. The server was not responding while our test jobs tried to retrieve the custom tool assigned to them. Instead of running into a timeout they waited forever.
      The jobs did not react on my tries to abort/stop them, so i had to restart Jenkins.
      I could not get any information from the logs (neither system nor job releated) concerning this issue.
