Although pipelines are written in groovy, the pipeline plugins do not accept a file called "Jenkinsfile.groovy" per default but only "Jenkinsfile". I think it would be very beneficial for many many users to allow this, because normal editors would support syntax highlighting and formatting. I also think this should be support per default and not be something I need to configure specially.

          [JENKINS-40634] allow suffix ".groovy" for Jenkinsfile

          Linguist (GitHub) recognizes it by default. Some other tools also allow

          #!groovy

          or similar.
