      Settings through the command line like "-DaltDeploymentRepository," " -DaltSnapshotDeploymentRepository" and "-DaltReleaseDeploymentRepository" are ignored and the values from the pom.xml are used instead.

Could you please try to reproduce with the latest maven-release-plugin (there are bugs in the older ones) a dumb github project (maybe cloning https://github.com/cyrille-leclerc/my-spring-boot-app ) enabling "-X": "mvn -X release:prepare release:perform" and then share the logs with us?
