It's not possible to set the number of attempts the plugin should make to get the result of the analysis.
https://github.com/jenkinsci/sonar-quality-gates-plugin/blob/master/src/main/java/org/quality/gates/sonar/api/QualityGatesProvider.java#L44 shows that it is a configuration of the job. Please make this configurable.

added a comment - I think this is a misconeption then. Some analyses take a long time. I don't want to increase the time to wait to e.g. 5 minutes because the analysis might take only 6 minutes. With time to wait set to 5 minutes the whole job takes at least 10 minutes to complete.
That's why we need to configure number of attempts so the check is performed more often. This is really no minior issue.

added a comment - arkanjoms: Can you rethink? Default is 1 retry, but we have different project sizes, so we don't want to wait minutes, we want fast delivery.

This is not a bug.
Do not put an option to change the number of attempts was intentional.
