[JENKINS-65050] Support triggering builds on tag creation

mhenschke_atlassian - Is there any status on this ticket? I noticed you logged it for someone from a community post so you don't have a lot of information here. This is something my team strongly desires as we use multibranch pipelines heavily and would really love the ability to auto-find new tags. I have reproducers setup and ready to provide more detail if you'd like that information (e.g. webhook trigger info from Bitbucket to Jenkins upon tag creation).

Hi, we would love to have this functionality. mhenschke_atlassian do you think this will make it closer to the top of the backlog anytime soon?

Within Bitbucket the Webhooks have triggers for tag creation, but in Jenkins it only gets as far as the Multibranch pipeline log and from there requires a cumbersome manual/scheduled scan to kickoff the build.

        Hi ccreedon1,

Thanks for raising, this is on our radar. Right now our biggest priority is getting complete pull request support and SCM 2.0 API support as part of JENKINS-66581. Part of that effort involves changing the way our head events are created and captured, which in turn opens a pathway for capturing and properly handling tags, so tag webhook support would come after that effort. We will continue to monitor activity on this ticket and will update it when we can but I can't provide you with a timeline at this time.

        Thanks,

        Martin

Thanks mhenschke_atlassian . Will these complete pull request and SCM 2.0 API updates still be supported, after the end of support for Bitbucket Cloud in March?

ccreedon1, where was "end of support for Bitbucket Cloud in March" announced? Atlassian is ending support for Bitbucket Server on February 15, 2024.

        Hi ccreedon1

Just to clarify, our plugin doesn't support Bitbucket Cloud at all. Atlassian is ending support for Bitbucket Server (as Kalle shared above). I'm afraid I can't answer any questions about the operability of the product after the end of support; such questions are best directed to https://support.atlassian.com/.

kon sorry, yes, this is what I was referring to. mhenschke_atlassian I presume this means that you will also be ending support for the Bitbucket Server Integration plugin from Feb 15th?
