Please make commit messages editable.

I have a hook installed which checks my commit messages to match a specific
regular expression. Which means only commits related to specific reported JIRA
issue are allowed to succeed. Because of some in between commit actions like
Deleting/Creating directories the tagging fails alle the time.
If all commit messages would be editable this problem wouldn't exist.
