It would be a big time save if I could copy an existing AMI definition when creating a new one and just tweak existing settings as needed after the fact. Additionally, if I could perform a similar operation with a whole cloud, including the AMI's defined for it, it would be even better.

The Jenkins CloudFormation plugin might be useful for this

Thanks for the comment, but I was referring specifically to the "AMI" and "cloud" as used in the ec2 plugin, meaning the config constructs it has, not actual AWS objects.

This would also be very helpful for me. I often need to tweak one or two parameters of an existing cloud machine definition. I make mistakes if I try to copy/paste the whole works. There are a lot of hidden and tedious bits to get right. Creating a new cloud machine definition by copying an old one would save me a lot of frustration.
