We have been relying on the BUILD_ID environment variable passed into Maven build project by Jenkins server, which used to include build time stamp but has changed to include build number since 1.597. The change broke our builds and we had to downgrade to 1.596.

Since I don't see the wiki https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Building+a+software+project updated for the environment variables section,
I was wondering if this is a planned change or a bug introduced unintentionally. If it's the latter, can it be fixed in the next version?
