many methods where deprecated in 2.0 but there is no javadoc to say why or an alternative (if one exists)

      several things (especially around pinned plugins) where @Deprecated in the 2.0 branch.

      However the annotation exists but no javadoc to say why things are deprecated or if there is an alternative.

      workaround read the source.
