In many cases, failed build on hudson requires modifications by many team members due to the code ownership, and because there is no way to organize those fix the fix takes longer time.
The suggestion is to create a new plugin (let's call it HotPotato for the sake of the discussion), when build fails the plugin sends the normal failure email in addition to a HotPotato thrown email to a default assignee, it is the role of the default assignee to fix what he/she should, and then re-throw the HotPotato [using hudson interface rather than email] to the next person.
Having the job dash board showing who has the hot potato puts un-manned some pressure on the responsible person, leading to faster fix for the failed builds.
