The matrix controlling job can be allocated to nodes that should only run tied jobs - resulting in source control checkouts on those machines, or worse attempts to use source control tools that do not exist on those machines. The matrix controlling job should only run on nodes that are marked 'use as much as possible', or perhaps only on the main master node.
