When the DropDownViews taskbar is enabled and selected, the dashboard view does not display using it – it uses the standard tab approach.

This causes issues in some cases such as when lots of sub-views are configured, since the width of the page is huge, and therefore the dashboard portlets are also huge, and require scrolling to see all of the columns.
