Git plugin doesn't track changes between two tags

      When we sync from Git tags, the Git plugin couldn't track the changes between two tags and the changelog.xml is empty.

          This issue was submitted 7 years ago but I would vote for this issue to be fix ASAP.

          My project are limited to build only with Git tags. However no change log is generated between two builds with different tags, which might cause other plugins that depends on change log (e.g. Jira plugin) not working correctly. What a pity!

          This is still an issue.

          Also affecting GIT_PREVIOUS_COMMIT as reported in JENKINS-45900
