1. The jenkins commandline is horribly implemented. It does not give the return value like - job number, job id, the job cannt be queried for status from commandline, the jenkins environmental variable cannot be read from scripts (perl, python...)

2. The jenkins is not well documentated. If one wants to look for some info about API or jenkins feature, one have to struggle hard to get the info.
