You can already specify a reason why you're taking a build node offline and I think it would be really useful if you could specify why you've put Jenkins in shutdown when you click "Jenkins->Manage Jenkins->Prepare for shutdown".

Seems like an easy thing to add and plugins such as thinBackup, which automatically triggers a shutdown command in order to perform the backup could then use this new API to provide it's own reason description.
