our ivy settings file includes another file specific to the java version basing on the env variable JAVA_VERSION (named like extended.settings-${ENV.JAVA_VERSION}.xml)

Even configuring the job with environment variables (envinject) this can't be resolved until JAVA_VERSION is set in jenkins startup script, so can't have distinct jobs to run on various JDK.
