      When using avahi-discover, the jenkins/hudson service gets displayed when jenkins is up, but when it goes down it seems to never disappear.

      Using jmdns 3.4.1 and the following code, the service doesn't appear nor disappear.

      class qsd {

      public static void main(String[] args) {

      JmDNS jmdns;
      try {
      jmdns = JmDNS.create(InetAddress.getLocalHost());
      jmdns.addServiceListener("_hudson._tcp.local.",
      new ServiceListener() {

      public void serviceResolved(ServiceEvent ev)

      { System.out.println("Service resolved: " + ev.getInfo().getQualifiedName() + " port:" + ev.getInfo().getPort()); }

      public void serviceRemoved(ServiceEvent ev)

      { System.out.println("Service removed: " + ev.getName()); }

      public void serviceAdded(ServiceEvent ev)

      { System.out.println("Service resolved: " + ev.getName()); }

      });
      } catch (UnknownHostException e)

      { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { // TODO Auto-generated catch block e.printStackTrace(); }

      }
      }
