If the remote jenkins is offline, or if the job doesn't exist for some reason, the plugin will fail and mark the build as failed EVEN if the box for "Do not fail if remote fails" is checked.

My assumption is that if the box is ticked, the plugin won't care what happens when it tries to trigger the job.
