When my build fails, Jenkins reports the standard "Build Failed" message. However, underneath this, there are no further details as to what caused the build to fail. Until yesterday, there has been a path or description to describe what caused the build to fail. But today, there seems to be only 2 blank lines where I would expect this reporting to show.

I have attached two screenshots...."build_fail" shows the failure I am currently receiving. And "build_fail_message" shows an example of the type of message I used to receive until yesterday.

This means I cannot easily find the reason my build has failed, and hence is holding up the development progress of my project. As far as I am aware, nothing should have changed on our config files.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Is this specific to ant build steps failing?

          Hi Daniel

Apologies, I am new to this so still trying to fully understand the terminology. However, I think the answer to your question is yes. We have Ant version selected as "Default" in our configuration page.

It is the build steps which are failing and until yesterday, had always provided an output with more specific details of each failure.

Seems the issue is related to Ant plugin.

Have you updated the core or plugins?
Anyway, please provide the system information (Jenkins version, installed plugins, etc.). See https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/Issue+Tracking#IssueTracking-Whattoputinthedescriptionofanissuereport%3F
