While talking to tfennelly about this seemingly unnecessary line wrap, he made a comment that the full date format currently used is often too verbose. His suggestion was to use a date divider in the history, like this:
--- Oct 30, 2014 ------- #7526 13:56 ....... #7525 13:40 ....... #7524 13:20 .......
Some jobs are triggered multiple times a day, while other jobs are triggered once in a quarter. The improvement would have to cover such a wide range.

Hi, what now if I am not happy with this new feature. And there is more who are not happy with this new look anymore. There is already issue created
The problem is that HTML is not supported in build history description anymore. See issue

Downgrade and live with the problems this fixed, tolerate it and wait for a fix, or fix it yourself and submit a PR.
BTW, my original comment was just to avoid line wrapping. Screenshot attached.
