After automatically upgrading to release 1.597 of Jenkins via the update center and the Manage Jenkins page (on a windows machine where 1.596 was running as a windows service on my local machine). After Jenkins service restart I get the following error on the job page (localhost:8080/job/<jobname>):

      Oops!

[JENKINS-26508] Upgrade to 1.597 breaks Job page

          Duplicates JENKINS-26496.

I think that this is not a duplication.
Plugin updates are not synchronized with newest Jenkins version

True. It's the exact same issue though, and will be fixed when the other gets fixed.

The fix of the plugin requires only plugin update.
The fix of the new Jenkins requires new Jenkins release.

You're wrong. The change to the plugin to restore compatibility with Jenkins 1.597+ has been prepared weeks ago, see above. Once a plugin version with the change is installed, Jenkins works again, see comments in the linked issue.

I had the exact same issue you stated in this ticket, though I updated Jenkins on a mac mini server manually to 1.597.

Reverting to 1.596 takes away the problem. (Though you can't see old builds when reverting, so I'm stuck with the new one)

All plugins are fully updated. Plenty of disk space on the machine.

So, I finally figured out my issue.

For me, it was a plugin.

Downgraded the "Disk Usage Plugin" from 0.24 to 0.23. Issue solved.

Odd that the upgrade seemed to cause the conflict. Again, downgrading to Jenkins 1.596 resolves the issue and allows use for the 0.24 version of Disk Usage Plugin.

Downgrading is NOT where we want to be going forward.

So are we waiting for another Disk Usage plugin release or another core release?

Had a similar issue after upgrading Jenkins from 1.502 to 1.599.

Fixed by upgrading disk usage plugin to version 0.25.
