If there is any delay in SSE event (even small), there is a lack of feedback that the user actually clicked the button, which makes them likely to click twice.
The feedback should happen (as toast) from the click, not from SSE, ideally.

Alternatively, a more obvious "click" animation on the button may help (cc jamesdumay)
