Opening Blue Ocean, the UI has couple of labels in local language (in this case German), e.g. "Übersicht" for overview. Like to see all these labels in English, but no way to toggle, or to configure the language to take.

          [JENKINS-40614] i18n - Switch language of UI.

michaelhuettermann if you are in regular jenkins - do you see german translations there? how do you switch the language with it normally?

          Hi khneal,
everything is completely on English. Regarding the underlying host system: system is running on English, and browser is also running on English. Nevertheless, some words are localized to German, e.g. "Dashboard" to "Übersicht". What I've done now for a quick fix is to install the Locale plugin and again set the locale to en_EN, and now also Blue Ocean is completely running against English. This looks like a workaround though since Blue Ocean should already automatically align with default settings.

yes blue ocean uses the browsers setting, but you can also put ?language=en at end of URI and it will force it to be english.
Not sure why your classic jenkins is english and blue ocean german - the other german speakers we have don't get that experience (they see it the same). if you change the order of languages in Chrome then it will prefer english (server side is not relevant to this).

setting URI as user seems not to be very most comfortable solution, but it could be another workaround, thanks.
Overall, a great job at Blue Ocean, particularly also the UI, looks like though it needs some final shaping.

michaelhuettermann what happens if you load blue ocean with your cache disabled? Do you still see the german translation?

if you open chrome settings and search for language, mine looks like:

          What does yours?

If I drag .de to the top, it will show it in german. When I move it down, english.

Test: I've now deactivated Jenkins Locale plugin.
Blue Ocean now runs on English.
The start condition is different now though: I raised the ticket because, initially, Blue Ocean partly showed German words. It completely switched to English after using the Locale plugin.
          I'm running on Firefox.

I am certain this problem will be solved if we fix JENKINS-40761.
