Request to GET /prometheus takes a huge amount of time (and memory)

      Jenkins 2.46.2
      Prometheus plugin: 1.0.6

      It seems that from time to time the prometheus plugin is very slow to complete the requests for /prometheus.

      Here is screenshot of the monitoring/JavaMelody entry:

       

      It also seems, that whenever I request the /prometheus endpoint, Java memory usage rises significantly (by several GB!).
