      At some point after my upgrade from Jenkins 2.46.2 to Jenkins 2.46.3 the Jenkins update center stopped working.

      Using http://updates.jenkins.io/stable/update-center.json (no SSL) , Updates --> Check now returns this error: "None of the tool installer metadata passed the signature check" (in Firefox 53.0.3 64-bit)

      Using https://updates.jenkins.io/stable/update-center.json (with SSL) , Updates --> Check now returns (in Firefox 53.0.3 64-bit):

      sometimes this error:

HTTP ERROR 403
