Active Directory Auth: Logging in with both username and email creates two separate accounts.

We configured Jenkins to use active directory authentication. It is possible to login with the ad username as well as the email adresse of the ad account. However, doing this will create two separate users. This will (almost) never be intended. As it is nice two be able to log in with both options, there should only be one jenkins account associated with each ad account.

We are using project based authentication and this is becoming a big pain for us.  Please link the the two accounts together or provide an option to disable one or the other.

Same problem here, we use Role-Based authorisation and sometimes our users get confused about why they do not have proper access to their resources in Jenkins.
We have chosen the username as login, but sometimes someone logs in with the e-mail and they think it is the same. They are not aware that the login is different but the password is the same and they don't figure out Jenkins is creating another account related to their e-mail. The result is that Jenkins does not grant them access to their resources because they are identified as a different account and... tickets get opened to our help desk to get the problem fixed.

Is it so difficult to fix?
