podTemplate() blocks indefinitely on not accessible cloud

      When running the podTemplate() step against a cloud configured in Jenkins, if that cloud's API server is unreachable the step blocks forever trying to reach the API server's URL.

      Jenkins log periodically shows the message:

      Failed to connect to Kubernetes at <API server's URL>: Failed to connect to <API server's URL>/<API servers's IP address>:443
