After this changes was introduced, the UI experience is poor. The distracting vertical dashed lines should be removed. I do not need them to understand the indentation, I can see the indentation.

If this is something for accessibility for the visually impaired or those that would really like to see them, could that be conditionally enabled by a configuration option?
