The latest jenkins versions are not compatible with tfs-plugin. The error blocks us from updating the jenkins version to any newer than 2.263 (e.g. 2.281).

The observed error behavior is critical as the whole pipeline configuration gets deleted when "saving" it. For example adding a new textbox parameter leads to clear ALL parameters of the respective pipeline.
