      C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Jenkins\.jenkins\secrets\initialAdminPassword

Does not exist. And I cannot find it.

      Please advise.

You will find the password in "SysWOW64", not "system32".

          This is a bug.

Please note, once I installed Jenkins and the path said System32 with a capital S–and it was the correct path.

Both cases were on Amazon EC2s using server 2019, but one used containers and the other did not–could that be related? It would seem unlikely.

I had been using Windows 10 Business edition.

It's recommended to not use LocalSystem as the account, however, I have a fix for this that is in PR form. It should use %ProgramData%\Jenkins as the root if you select LocalSystem for the user to run Jenkins s.

When using LocalSystem, the installer will use ProgramData. This will start occurring in the next release of the installer.
