Global credential names cannot be edited from update screen

      Hi team!

After tha upgrading the Jenkins to v2.304 i'm facing the issue about naming of keys in the Global Credentials.

In these settings i see the name looks like as HASH. The same name i'm facing in the settings of job when triing to add, for example, a git repository.

Please, take a look a screenshot.

      Thank you

If you don't provide a description for the credential, the description field is left blank in the cases that I tested. I haven't found a way to duplicate the issue you are reporting.

Here's my screenshot showing credentials where I assigned an ID and a credential where I allowed the system to assign the ID. In both cases, I'm able to change the description at any time.

          Hi markewaite

Hmm, may be these issue is related the SSH Credentials Plugin. Could you please provide version of your plugin?

          My is 1.19

Mine is also 1.19. I would guess you might have something locally that is inadvertently copying the plugin ID to the plugin description.

I'm using docker and docker image "jenkins/jenkins". Do you think that the containerisation of Jenkins might be causing for this bug?

For a clear experiance, i tried to create a some new credentials. Please, take a look screenshot.

"test" was created with cpecified ID. "test1" - without.

My issue is about the Name column. I see the hash-name in this column for old credentials. And the correct name for test and test1.

I was running with the Docker images as well using jenkins/jenkins:2.304 as the base image. I'm confident that the container does not cause that behavior.

I suggest that you edit the old credentials and correct their display name to something that is clear to you.

          Thank you!

Yes. I'll edit them by changing the xml files. I guess this will help. I tried to change them thru GUI, but these value not changed.
