perhaps this is more of a svnkit problem, however, there is room for improvement even in hudson...

if a project uses multiple subversion "modules", i.e. checkouts/updates from several URLs into different parallel directories in the jobs workspace ...

then these checkouts/updates could be just as well run in parallel, thus improving update time drastically in cases where the machine and network can handle the increased load
