When one goes to Manage Jenkins and views the Security section, there is a Manage Credentials button and there is a Configure Credential Providers button. Both use the key ionicon, which is confusing because the same icon shouldn't be used for two different things. While a credential is a means of gaining access to a resource, much like a key in the physical world, a credential provider is not: it is a secure storage location for credentials, much like a wallet in the physical world is a secure storage location for money. The wallet ionicon would be a more appropriate choice for the Configure Credential Providers button.
