The extension might helps other plugins to make own views depend on file extension.

Ex:

I want implement markdown viewer and table viewer (for .csv files) in the artifacts list.

But I will not change Jenins core for that. I thing this will helps many other plugins too.

 

 

Note 1: It shall be possible defined in the step archiveArtifacts which viewer shall be used. So can the Jenkins-administrator decide which plugin shall be used for archived files.

 

Note 2: It shall be possible to define some viewer option in the archiveArtifacts step.

For example for *.csv files is necessary to know which delimiter (;,\t) shall be used.
