I am proposing the development of a new plugin or feature that allows users to reorder and prioritize pending builds in the Jenkins build queue or in the build history queue of a specific job.

      e.g.

I am seeking the functionality to designate build #143 to follow immediately after the build currently processing (build #141) in the completed queue by using some kind of arrows in the user interface. This capability to prioritize the execution sequence within the completed builds would significantly enhance our project workflow by ensuring the timely execution of crucial tasks in the Jenkins environment.

Currently, Jenkins does not offer a native way to adjust the order of pending builds in the queue. This proposed functionality would enable users to dynamically manage the build queue, prioritizing specific builds based on their requirements.

      Key Points:

      1. Reordering Capability: The ability to change the order of pending builds in the queue, ensuring that critical or time-sensitive builds can be prioritized over others.
      1. User Interface Integration: An intuitive user interface component within Jenkins to facilitate the reordering process, making it user-friendly and accessible.
      1. Flexibility and Customization: The feature should provide flexibility, allowing users to dynamically adjust the queue order.

Benefit: This feature would significantly enhance the flexibility and efficiency of Jenkins users, enabling better management of the build queue to meet project-specific needs. By allowing the rearrangement of builds in the queue, it would streamline project workflows and improve the overall Jenkins experience.

I believe that the addition of this functionality would greatly benefit Jenkins users, providing more control and adaptability within the CI/CD process. Your consideration of this feature request is highly appreciated.
