      Once JENKINS-73121 is complete, update the prototype branch of jenkinsci/core to remove <maven.compiler.release>17</maven.compiler.release>, then submit the pull request toward the default branch. Once it has been released, ensure jenkinsci/bom is successfully updated with the new release.
