We recently updated Jenkins from 2.462.2 to 2.492.3 with the latest plugins. After the update, Hashicorp Vault Username-Password Credentials types are no longer showing up in the credentials drop down. Only local Jenkins credentials are shown.
Really, there are three behaviors that are seen.
- The credentials drop down is missing and never shows lists of credentials to choose
- The credentials drop down only show local credentials and vault credentials are missing
- On rare occasion, vault credentials are in the drop down but after choosing the appropriate credential and saving job, we get the stack trace attached, vault-issue-ui.txt, when scanning the Bitbucket repo
Note, before most recent plugin update, we got a 401 error however the latest plugin released about 2 weeks ago now produces the stack trace in the attachment, vault-issue-ui.txt, with a blank status code.
At first we thought it was the hashivault plugin, however, the plugin works and vault credentials can be used successfully in a pipeline job. Also, when testing the hashi-vault secret retrieval, it successfully retrieves the username and password.
Also, we tried the following but still get the same issue:
- Updating Jenkins to latest LTS version, 2.504.1 (uses same plugin versions as 2.492.3)
- Updating to JDK 21 for the Jenkins controller
- Reverted to the previous working hashicorp-vault-plugin but same issue
I was able to capture the stack trace when turning on logger for com.cloudbees.jenkins.plugins.bitbucket.BitbucketSCMSource. Please see attachment vault-issue-log.txt for detail.
