It would be great if the scoring system allowed you to pick a cap number i.e. 100 and that was the maximum points a user could get for 1 check-in / 1 project / 1 day.
StackOverflow has a similar cap in that if 5 people up vote your question if within 12 hours more people upvote your quesstion, you do not gain any more points. Something like that.
The reasoning behind this is, when people check-in a legacy project they instantly get something like -5000 points. Also if someone add's a source code library that can also come with the same issues. Then the opposite can also occur - if somebody formats the imported library source code to our standards (fixing the checkstyles for line length etc) they will get +5000 which is just not cricket.
