The form based login is defect since 1.283, you can't login at least with
passwords containing an "!" (Don't know if others are working).

Workaround: Install Version 1.281, 1.282 has UTF-8 issues in internationalized
      versions.

[JENKINS-3043] Form based login is defect in 1.283!

          skaze, questions:
          1) If your site allows new users to signup, does that work?
          2) Is there a test account or something in the system that you would be able to
tell me the password for? If so, email me directly with the

{hudson-home}/users/{username}/config.xml file and the password.. then I can
copy the file into my own hudson and try it out.
          3) Can you also send me the {hudson-home}

          /config.xml file?

Not sure what the issue is.. I haven't seen any problems since the above fix was
made. What version were you upgrading from before you tried 1.283 or 1.284?

I tried that user config.xml in my Hudson and I can login fine as user "deleted".

When you try to login do you get any failure details in the hudson/webserver
log? Please post any log output here. What platform/container do you run on?

I am stuck on 1.281 due to this poorly tested 'feature'. You should know that if
you muck around with security features, or any other pervasive, architecturally
significant subsystem you should of tested the hell out of it using real world
environments before you released it. Please keep trying to get a fix as I am not
about to drop all my existing user accounts or reset all their passwords.

please answer my questions from 1-Mar. I don't know what else to try.. your
config.xml works on my system; I have not heard of anyone else with any problems.
