After upgrading to the 2.0.x release line, the Metadata information is not available until the first index / scan has been completed.

This is expected behaviour as the raison d'être for the change to 2.0.x was to remove the hacks used by these plugins in 1.x for storing metadata and replace them with a correct storage.

The side-effect of the old storage mechanism was that the metadata updating was inconsistent. Additionally, the metadata stored in 1.x was partial and missed some key components. Consequently the old metadata can neither be trusted to be accurate in all cases nor is it complete.
