If we update Groovy to 2.4.12 for Java 10, Pipeline builds leaks Metaspace memory

Not an issue yet, but it will be due to the fix for JENKINS-52019 (fixing Declarative Pipeline on Java 10+) which requires Groovy 2.4.12

It's only minor because this is an unreleased speculative change and it isn't released anywhere.

svanoort it would be great if you could clarify status of this after the hackathon.
Do you still plan to work on it?

oleg_nenashev Yes, I still plan to work on this - but it comes after I've sorted out issues with the workflow-support plugin (testing revealed what appears to be a compatibility issue).

It seems I can no longer reproduce the leaks – at least with current Java core versions – despite extensive testing.

Something in the current round of hacking seems to have resolved this.
