Make the header "Jenkins" open the main menu, instead of the tiny arrow icon

In the current layout, we can access the top main menu by clicking a very tiny icon besides "Jenkins".

Please, make the entire "Jenkins" block click open that context menu.

Clicking the "Jenkins" label takes the user to the main landing page – exactly the same behavior as clicking on the the Jenkins title just above that.

I keep finding myself wishing that "Jenkins" label simply open the main context menu. It would make things much, much, much better.

      Best regards!

I moved this issue from the INFRA project to JENKINS because it does not seem to be "reporting a bug with the Jenkins web site, wiki, or any other services run by the Jenkins project" as described in How to report an issue. See also Infrastructure.

Did you have the chance to take a look at https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-60972 ? It may be at odds with this one. I think having just that item be a dropdown can be a bit inconsistent.

BTW, I think this is an improvement not a bug. AFAIK this behaviour is intended and has been present since forever.

This makes sense only for as long as you never have a second breadcrumb. With that, it'll make navigating to the referenced item much harder. This only works for the top-level entry because there's the "Jenkins" logo link.

Aboslutely. In my experience, the first item of the breadcrum "Jenkins" is a hotspot. I find myself always expecting it to open the menu, instead of taking me back to the main screen.

Would it make sense to at least make the icon for the drop down a bit larger? It's really difficult to aim for it, especially in high resolution monitors.

This is even more cumbersome with the fact that there are actually two drop down menus in the breadcrumb. Very small icons, very close to each other.

You're right. I'm still having trouble thinking of a good solution. Leaving the icon on at all times may give the impression that it's a purely dropdown button, not a link. It would also affect uses across the whole application. The downside with just making it bigger is that it would cause a rather big empty space next to the breadcrumb link.

Cannot think of a good solution for this tbh
