In Chrome on windows the dropdown chevron on the breadcrumb bars no longer offer the menu or have any interactivity on them (not clickable).

However when you hover over the text of the breadcrumb you can see that the chevron is part of the button.

The chevron should provide the dropdown of the menu however it is not.

      Steps to reproduce

      go to https://weekly.ci.jenkins.io/job/folder/job/failing-pipeline/   with chrome

click on the downward pointing arrow in the breadcrumb bar to the right of Folder (see circled element in screenshot)

      Expected Result

The drop down menu for the folder (in this case, generically would be for any ModelItem) is shown.

      Actual Results

      Nothing happens

          [JENKINS-75251] breadcrumb dropdowns not working

I don't seem to be able to duplicate the issue on Windows 11 with either Chrome 133.0.6943.60 (same as your version) or Edge 133.0.3065.59. I'm not clear what is different between my Windows 11 and your Windows 11, my Chrome and your Chrome, or my Edge and your Edge.

Here's what I see in Chrome

Initial state from a logged in session on Chrome

Hover over the "folder" word in the header

Click the downward pointing chevron on folder

Here's what I see in Microsoft Edge

Initial state from a logged out session on Edge

Hover over the "folder" word in the header

Click the downward pointing chevron on folder

I see the same interaction whether I'm using dark theme in Edge or light theme in Edge.

Could it be some browser plugin?

I have 3 extensions non of which are active for any of these sites.

          • Google Docs Offline (drive.google.com, docs.google.com only)
          • Clockwise (calendar.google.com only)
          • Okta (requires click to activate)

my edge looks like your edge, it is only chrome that is pre showing the chevron before a hover and then not reacting to a click on it.

So I just tried on a different laptop (running chrome 131 and there where no issues, I then updated chrome to 133 and when chrome relaunched I see exactly the same issue.

I am using different chrome users on both laptops.

I would guess there is a race condition in the expand / contract of the hover that is used to show the drop down chevron.

for some reason Projects here is not expanded (which is expected, even though the others are), but even on hover it does not expand to include a dropdown chevron.

I am having this same issue.  It works for me on edge but not Chrome.  Chrom Version 133.0.6943.60 (Official Build) (64-bit)

I thought that it might be related to screen size so I opened weekly.ci.jenkins.io from my 13" screen Chromebook with Chrome 132.0,6834.154. The version of ChromeOS on that Chromebook is very nearly out of support and can't be upgraded to a Chrome 133 version. It works as expected also.

I thought that it might be associated with my user account, so I tried the same steps from an incognito browser on Chrome. It works as expected also. I'm open to more ideas about ways that the working environments might be different from the non-working environments.

I am guessing a race condition in javascript/CSS as the expands are shown but have no interactivity..  like the behaviours are added too early or late to be effective.

I'm not sure what to add a breakpoint on etc to confirm/deny/debug this further, either drop some ideas
